Italian term

Soggetto gestore

Non-PRO Italian to English Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology)
The text is as follows:

'la sezione “Soggetto gestore e web content manager”, individua la tipologia del soggetto gestore del sito e chi si occupa specificamente dei contenuti'

It goes on:

'Per quanto riguarda la rilevazione del soggetto gestore del sito, che fa riferimento al principio di autorevolezza delle informazioni presenti, troviamo che i siti selezionati sono, per la maggior parte, gestiti da un soggetto privato; ci sono poi siti gestiti da enti di livello nazionale, regionale e locale; e, infine, sono emerse alcune modalità che prevedono la gestione di un soggetto pubblico-privato, la gestione da parte di una rete pubblico-privata oppure da parte di una rete di utenti.'

I just can't fathom whether this should be 'webmaster', 'web governer', 'website owner' or perhaps something else entirely; any clarification would be greatly appreciated.

just for info - to read starting from: **Scenario che cela anche nuove opportunità**

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chief_web_officer
A chief web officer (CWO) is the highest-ranking corporate officer (executive) in charge of an organisation’s Web presence, including all internet and intranet sites. As a corporate officer position, the CWO reports directly to the CEO.

Contrast with CIO and CTO
The position of CWO has emerged distinctly from the positions of Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) because of the need to focus on and coordinate an organisation’s entire Web environment and presence. A CIO typically focuses on IT planning, procurement, and architecture for the enterprise; a CTO “is principally overseeing development of new technologies.”
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the CWO position vary among enterprises, depending on the needs and goals of the business. A CWO should have a deep and broad understanding of the Web and website governance issues. Some of the issues within the CWO jurisdiction could include online strategy, budgeting, systems & software administration, hosting, online marketing & communications, e-commerce, customer service, business development, online community & social media, web content development & workflows, website graphic design, user experience (analysis/design), information/data architecture, website analytics, security, archiving, accessibility, legal issues (for example, copyright, DRM, trademark, and privacy), and training, among others.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you so much for your contributions, Grace. Website Operator certainly seems to be an accurate translation; I have added Webmaster as an option (for the future reference of others) as an option as I believe that is suitable too. I really appreciate your time with this, Liam."
