Regierungsamtsrat (RAR) ist in Deutschland die Amtsbezeichnung eines Beamten im gehobenen Dienst in der Bundes- oder Landesverwaltung im dritten Beförderungsamt.
Die Position wird mit der Besoldungsgruppe A 12 nach der Bundesbesoldungsordnung des Bundesbesoldungsgesetzes alimentiert und entspricht somit besoldungsrechtlich einem Polizeihauptkommissar bzw. einem Hauptmann oder Kapitänleutnant der Bundeswehr.
