Discussion

Thomas Pfann Nov 7, 2016:

martina1974 (asker) Nov 7, 2016:
Hi Ramey and Anne, yes I also think it's about excretions from humans and animals. Maybe the customer chose "Quelle von Mensch und Tier" because it's nicer put than excretions from...
Ramey Rieger (X) Nov 7, 2016:
Hi Anne, hi Martina I would think that the source/well is contaminated BY humans and animals. What do you think?
Anne Schulz Nov 7, 2016:

That's a GOOD one!
agree Lancashireman : Feces (fecal matter) if Martina is using American spelling throughout (center, favor, minimize etc). Faeces (faecal matter) if she is using non-American spelling (centre, favour, minimise etc).

originating from humans and animals

I think it would be safer to say it this way because you don't know for sure whether it is coming from a well or sewer of some kind.
Peer comment(s):

neutral writeaway : and just ignore the word Quelle and the rest of the German construction?
1 hr
neutral Steffen Walter : This is not about contamination 'coming from' a well or source - the opposite is what is being said here. Admittedly, the word order is a bit unfortunate in the German.
3 hrs
neutral Thomas Pfann : I agree in that "[originating] from" might be the better approach here, but your explanation is wrong. We do know for sure where the contamination is coming from: von Mensch und Tier
