French term

Garantie

French to English Law/Patents Finance (general)
Hi everyone,

This is at the beginning of a contract (in the section where all the company's details are) and says:

..., titulaire de la garantie Atradius, ...

The "titulaire" is a tour operator.

Is this a surety bond or some other kind of financial guarantee?

Cheers,
Nick

The first thing to do is look up Atradius:

Atradius products and services help manage the payment default risks - the risk that a buyer fails to pay for the products or services it buys on trade credit terms.

These products include:

Trade Credit Insurance;
Bonding;
Instalment Credit Protection;
Reinsurance Business and
Collections

This is known in the travel industry as a bond. It ensures that travellers are not left high and dry if you default.

We know that, for example, in Scandinavian countries tourism laws require travel agencies and tour operators to guarantee their products and services with a bond.

agree SafeTex : They use "surety" on their homepage but "bond" is used copiously elsewhere so this is good for me
