French term

glissière

French to English Tech/Engineering Engineering: Industrial voilures d\\\'avions à sur
Hi,

Is it "slider" in this context?

"les plans...se situant de leur bord d'attaque à leur partie amincie dénommée bord de fuite sont avec le dispositif ici présenté, partagés en deux parties distinctes: l'une pouvant s'écarter de l'autre à l'aide d'une glissière réunissant d'une part la partie porteuse du bord d'attaque à celle porteuse du bord de fuite..."

I have seen that it has been translated here on proz (field:aviation) as "sliding joint" but It doesnt mention whether its the wing part or not...so I'm posting for this term again

Please help!
Thank you so much :)

Discussion

Nikki Scott-Despaigne Feb 23, 2011:
Coudl be anything... ... from slide to runner and anything in between. Even if it is on part of a wing, depends which part, depends what type of wing, construction material, builder... too many unknowns. DO you have a drawing? A photo? Otherwise this is a fine candidate for a question to your client !
Tony M Feb 23, 2011:
I'd say... ...certainly not 'slider'; as for the other term suggested, that does sound plausible to me, but I'm not an expert in this field, so I'll leave that for others to advise you... I certainly think it ought to be some kind of 'slide' or perhaps 'slide mechanism'.
