Discussion

Tony M Jun 12, 2022:
@ Asker Can you confirm what type of lighting fixtures these are ?
philgoddard Jun 12, 2022:
You should put that as an answer.
Emmanuella Jun 12, 2022:
Je confirme.
philgoddard Jun 12, 2022:
It's "cutoff" in Emmanuella's first reference.

lighting sequence

Rather than lighting for a parade, my first idea!

Things on your TV screen "défilent", when you go through a decoder interface menu.

set sequence
Note from asker:
I have been online of course. The link below is spot on (!) but offers no illumination...

On-off is a sequence! Fair enough.
neutral philgoddard : Maybe if it was "défilé éclairage"...

disagree Tony M : Not what this term means in this specialist context.

diffused light or lighting

Diffused light, or soft light, is light that's filtered by something. Sunlight through a sheer curtain is diffused. Light from behind a lampshade is diffused compared to the direct light of a bare bulb. The lampshade softens and scatters the light.

Peer comment(s):

disagree Tony M : Not in this instance. For one thing, 'défilé' isn't used in that sense; but also, the text specifically says it has an 'optical diffuser', which implies some kind of beam control, and so will not be producing a very soft light. You're misinterpreting ref.

agree Tony M : Yes! it means the light is 'controlled', or as you have pointed out elsewhere, 'cut off' — not preaing all ove the place.
