Just a thought There's a telecoms company called Altitude Telecom. (But the second "altitude" should then be capitalised of course).

I'd say it isn't Besides the fact that the usual interpretation of "a.s.l.", particularly when preceded by a measurement in metres, is "above sea level", where exactly is the level of the ground?

What is odd about the specification is the repetition of "altitude".

Funny specification The altitude (above sea level) is also defined by the barometric pressure - 760 mm Hg is approx. sea level. I guess "Altitude" here refers to elevation (height) above ground - not above sea level.
