Stamp or punch
Can be a rubber stamp or for materials such as steel an actual number stamp to be marked on the part. Obvously not on a machined surface or similar.

Perforator
I would put it that way.

Marge Hogarty
: I am not sure if this refers to a tool or to the actual mark made on the metal (if indeed they are talking about metal.)

Bashiqa
: Perforator would apply to marking a ticket when you get on the train.

Number of SNCF stamps
This would be a mark made on metal. This is the only translation I can think of that makes sense in the context of industrial material.

Nikki Scott-Despaigne
: "SNCF punch n°" or even "marker" number (like a hallmark on the metal). The FR is in the singular, referring to the number of one particular stamp (rather than the number of stamps that exist). Ambiguity can be avoided by changing the word order

SNCF stamp
I believe SNCF: National Company of French Railways.
I think we talk about the SNCF stamp, if applicable (=s'il y lieu).

SNCF have prepared a recovery plan . Let's wait and see !
Each type of piece should have a designated number in concordance with the norms in place.
For example like here, "poinçon, marquage,..."
