I believe the ski-jumps designate the discharge or overflow sluices commonly seen on hydroelectric power plants, on either side of the dam.

neutral Christopher Crockett : Sorry, I can't get "specificity" from "particularité." Offhand, I don't know what I could get "specificity

The unusual aspect of the buidling is the form of the six arches

and the two ski jumps, located on either side of the power plant or electricity power plant
Peer comment(s):

agree Tony M : yes, ski jumps are spillways

agree Bourth (X) : Better to specify "spillways". The dam is probably in a mountain region, and all interpretations are possible!

agree Christopher Crockett : Perhaps I'm wrong, but I prefer "unusual" to "unique" for "particularité." And "specificity" doesn't fly, at all.

the uniqueness of the structure lies in the shape of the six arches and two ski jumps...

"the uniqueness of the structure lies in the shape of the six arches and two ski jumps, located on both sides of the dam (or hydraulic power plant)"

OR:

\"the structure\'s uniqueness stems from the shape (or could they mean the configuration?) of its six arches and two ski jumps, which are located on either side of the hydraulic power plant\"

Perhaps "singularity" would be closer to the original meaning, if the connotation of "particularité" is along the lines of "unusual"--please tell me what you are getting at; it would be instructive for me to understand for future reference. Thank you!

The six arches and two ski jumps on either side of the power plant make the structure unique.

That sounds like quite a rush, starting off on a ski jump and landing in the high-voltage network of the power plant.

1 a : a minute detail : PARTICULAR b : an individual characteristic : PECULIARITY; also : SINGULARITY
2 : the quality or state of being particular as distinguished from universal

Something particular or individual has a characteristic that is not share by the group, thereby making it unique. If the characteristic were not unique, it would be shared with other members of the group, which means it wouldn\'t be particularlity. Or am I missing something?

sorry: it would be shareD by the group

neutral Christopher Crockett : Yes, a very engergizing experience, no doubt. But, is "particularité" necessarily "unique" ?
