M.D. vs M.Sc. med.

English Medical Medical (general) degree in medicine
I've always translated the Polish degree in medicine, "lek.", as "M.D.". Today I received some files from the reviewer and they changed "M.D." to "M.Sc. med.". This the first time I've ever seen this and it looks like an entirely different degree.

Has anybody ever encountered "M.Sc. med" and could confirm whether this is indeed a different degree and not a valid equivalent of "lek."?

I found this:

The Master of Medical Sciences program is an excellent opportunity to gain a solid foundation in preparation for medical school. For someone like myself, this program was perfect because I felt as though I needed a more concrete understanding of the material necessary to do well on the MCAT and increase my readiness for medical school.

Neither is correct It's not your job to find equivalences between qualifications in different countries. I would leave it in Polish and put "licence to practice exam" in brackets afterwards. As I understand it, it's not a degree, and it's an acronym, so LEK.

I also think this should have been posted under Polish-English.

MD medical doctor vs MSc - master of science

MSc is definitely not the same as MD - MD, as you quite rightly state is Dr. - "Medical Doctor", or physician, qualified in medicine, with a license. An MSc is a master of science - a second degree (above a BSc), providing medical knowledge but not covering everything required to actually practise..

M.D "Medical Doctor" and MSc Med "Masters of Science in Medicine"

"MD" and "MSc Med" are both abbreviations of degree programs from the school of medicine provided by the different university in the world.
Example sentence:

I did my Masters of Science in Medicine from Harvard university

I did My MSc. Med from Harvard University

Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : Yes, but the crucial differences is that MSc Med does not entitle you to practise as a doctor, as MD does!
