These three sentences that I added are the first three instances of "source model" used in the source text.

"Source model" seems to refer to a mathematical model of the forces acting at the point where the seismic event which causes a tsunami occurs.

Something similar happens in seismology. An earthquake is triggered by the release of seismic energy. A source model seems to be a mathematical model of the pattern of energy release during the triggering event.
