English term

USB up

English Tech/Engineering Computers: Hardware Monitor
There is a monitor that has two different USB ports:

USB 3.0
USB Up 3.0

What does this "up" mean?
What's the difference between this "USB Up 3.0" port and the regular USB 3.0 port?

Thank you for your attention.

upload from usb output of computer

A usual usb-cable has the familiar plugin interface on a computer, to be linked to a similar plug of a cable inversely. Certain devices have a different plugin opportunity for the connecting cable, which can be seen at http://superuser.com/questions/856297/monitor-with-usb-upstr... . This photo says it goes into a monitor, but various types of outside storage drives also use this plugin to differentiate it from the computer's own usb port. This way, plugging is unambiguously determined.

disagree Daryo : your own reference mentions "streams" UPSTREAM not files - you upload/download FILES either are a bunch of bits and bytes, but still not quite the same thing...

Apparently, the 'up' opposes 'down' and seems to be in essence what would previously have been the 'gender' of the connection.

Here's one example site that talks about it, but there are plenty of others if you just Google it:

agree philgoddard : I can't believe it's quicker to post a question on here than to Google it, especially when the first hit tells you the answer.

agree Didier Fourcot : Not only the gender, USB is a master-slave system, the USB-up makes the monitor the master of an other USB bus; as the lable is probably USB-up on the device, I bet it can be left iin English
