Protruding-Strip Pull
To make a very simple but very effective pull,
apply a strip to the top edge of the drawer front.
If you select your stock carefully for color and
grain, you can fool the eye into thinking that the
pull was carved into the front, instead of being
simply glued in place. The best method is to
shape the strip before gluing it to the drawer.
Cove the underside on the router table using a
coving bit. Make the cut in successively deeper
passes (A). Then round over the top and bottom
of the leading edge (B).
Glue and clamp the strip to the drawer front (C).
When the glue has dried, clean up any small
misalignments with a goose-neck scraper
and planes.
