With a simple hydraulic jack operated hinged type flap provision for 'blow-back' can be incorporated into the hydraulic system. This is in the form of a pressure relief valve in the flap down line -- called a 'blow-back' valve. This will allow the flaps to be blown back by the airflow (aerodynamic pressure) if left down after take-off. If the flaps are lowered during flight (at speed) then the relief system will prevent the flaps from going down too far and >sustaining damage
