Definition from
MDPI journals:
Virus-host interaction is defined as how viruses sustain themselves within the host organisms on a molecular, cellular or population level. Virus–host interaction is a complex phenomenon, often virus- and host cell-specific. The dynamic interactions between a virus and its host are critical for the establishment of acute infections and/or the maintenance of persistent infections, and for the manifestation of the disease.
Example sentences:
A collective view of these multiple studies could advance our understanding of virus-host interactions and provide new therapeutic perspectives for the treatment of viral diseases. (Frontiers in Immunology)
This technology may allow investigators to conduct studies on virus-host interactions which were previously not feasible or affordable, such as the identification of important alternate splice isoforms, miRNA discovery and profiling, and expression profiling in organisms for which a complete genomic sequence has not been determined. (National Center for Biotechnology Info)
Efforts to understand the genetic and molecular basis of virus-host interactions have led to the identification of specific gene products that play key roles in determining the outcome of infections. (Journal of Biological Chemistry)
