that he walked out of the project in a rage.
But then the Cavaliere Bernini
always did have a cavalier way with his assistants.
"He thinks he’s the lord of the world!",his own mother complained.
So he took what he needed.
Technical expertise, grinding toil
and, in the case of one of his assistants,
Matteo Buonarelli, his wife.
