(voor 1700), vervaardigden uurwerkmakers de raderen met de hand. Later kwamen verdeelmachines, die in staat waren raderen zowel te verdelen als te frezen.

i suppose this means distribute the teeth around a cog? Any ideas, thanks in advance!

dividing engine

They're saying that early (17th century) clockmakers had to cut the wheels by hand and manually plot out the gradations. The dividing engine (particulary circular dividing engines) eliminated the need to do any of that by hand. Look up some history on Henry Hindley and Jesse Ramsden. A few links below.
