vorderingen afgeven

Dutch to English Law/Patents Law (general) Power of attorney
Onder de taken die de attorney moet uitvoeren bij het afhandelen van de erfenis staat o.a.:

"legaten van zowel roerende als onroerende zaken of vorderingen af te geven".

Legaten afgeven begrijp ik wel, maar de combinatie van 'vorderingen' (debts/claims) met het werkwoord 'afgeven' begrijp ik niet.

Thank you for your comments! After further searching I found that 'vorderingen' are known as 'estate-claims' . This I assume may be an official declaration signed by the executor and this can indeed be given out or issued when a beneficiary cannot claim his/her share of the estate immediately.

I think "vorderingen afgeven" means file/lodge/submit claims, but I'm not clear what the whole sentence means. Could there be something wrong with it?
