Dutch term

binnen het kader van de Wet en het Besluit

Dutch to English Bus/Financial Insurance Policy terms and conditions
Hi, I'd like to verify the best English equivalent for this. It's used in a description of insurance coverage in the terms and conditions of a policy. I don't see how Wet and Besluit refer to any specific law in the section in question. Could this be a general statement such a "as provided for by law"?

It appears in the following

Uitbreiding Cybergebeurtenis
Verzekerd is, binnen het kader van de Wet en het Besluit, de schade van de verzekerde veroorzaakt door een Cyber-gebeurtenis.

Thanks for your help!

:-) Couldn't care less.

What's in a name?
That which we call a rose
By any other word would smell as sweet.
philgoddard Oct 12, 2020:
Sorry!
Barend van Zadelhoff Oct 10, 2020:
:-) 'barend' is not the stem of the verb 'barenden', which does not exist, as far as I know.

So this is not possible:

Ik barend
Jij barendt
Hij barendt
Wij barenden
Jullie barenden
Wij barenden

So, the name is still 'Barend', which is derived from German 'Bernhard'.
philgoddard Oct 10, 2020:
Barendt's second reference may be relevant, as it's about cybersecurity.
Barend van Zadelhoff Oct 10, 2020:
In implementation of EU Directive 2015/849 (the 4th EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive) a centralized registry of Ultimate Beneficial Owners (“UBOs”) of Belgian legal entities has been established by the law of 18 September 2017 on the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing and on restriction of the use of cash1 (the “Law”) and by the Royal Decree of 30 July 2018 adopted thereunder2 (the “Decree”).

Pursuant to the Law and the Decree, every company, not-for-profit entity, foundation, trust, fiduciary or other similar Belgian entity (the "Information Providers") is required to collect and hold adequate, accurate and up-to-date information relating to its UBOs.

I think you can say something like this (binnen het kader van de Wet en het Besluit [X]):

Nadere regelen Wet en Besluit openbaarheid van bestuur

Deze beschikking verstaat onder:

a.de wet: de Wet openbaarheid van bestuur;

b.het besluit: het Besluit openbaarheid van bestuur;

philgoddard Oct 10, 2020:
Yes I think it's a mistake. They may have copied text from somewhere else without reading it properly.
Michael Beijer Oct 10, 2020:
doesn't make much sense to me if it had said something like: "Binnen het kader van de wet- en regelgeving", maybe, but there does seem to be something missing. namely, a specific "Wet" and "Besluit"...

Within the framework of the Act and the Decree

I think they mean EU law (i.e. some directive) and the Royal Decree that implements it into Dutch law.

Decree to Implement European Legislation on Cooperation for Recognition of Professional Degrees
Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : If it was EU law, it wouldn't say "Wet".

Maybe, but I think they used wet instead of wetgeving... which is very confusing because which legislation is being referred to? As far as I understand, you have a European Union Directive, followed by a (royal) decree and then national legislation...
agree Barend van Zadelhoff : They refer to a Dutch Law and Decree (or Belgian https://www.jdsupra.com/legalnews/new-belgian-requirements-f... Perhaps 'as part/under the terms of the Law and Decree'

Thanks, Barend!
agree writeaway : Yup, was going to suggest to asker that he look the terms up in a suitable dictionary. This is actually rather basic terminology for those of us who do legal translations

I agree, however, as a mainly technical translator, I also have to translate legal terminology so now and again :-)
