Dutch term

Pomp koelvloeistofvulinstallatie ontluchten

Dutch to English Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks
This is a manual for a vehicle. I think it should be translated to "deairing the radiator", but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?

Non-ProZ.com Mar 12, 2005:
Mark, this is unfortunately a heading in a manual, so the best I can do is to post the few sentences that follow the heading:

Wanneer uitvoeren?

Als de vulpomp niet voldoende debiet levert omdat er lucht in aanwezig is.

Bereikbaar via het buitenluik van de motorruimte

It seems to me that this is some sort of a device attached to the radiator of the vehicle.

Thanks in advance.
Ken Cox Mar 10, 2005:
Are you sure this is installed in the vehicle? The only google hits for "coolant filling system" (first-guess translation) are for commercial systems for filling large numbers of vehicles with coolant.
Non-ProZ.com Mar 10, 2005:
Just for some additional info, this is not about cars, but trucks and/or busses.
Non-ProZ.com Mar 10, 2005:
Or even "deairing radiator filling component"?

ontluchten = bleed (the air from) a system OR vent a system

I leave the translation of 'koelvloeistofvulinstallatie' up to you (if that's in a car, it strikes me as a fairly pompous designation).

3 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Your answer helped me along the way, but it wasn;t exactly what I needed. I found reference to this later in the project again and it has to do with the air-conditioning system, not the radiator as I initially thought. The correct translation would be **bleeding the cooling system**"

pressure relief valve / relief built up pressure/air from the coolant system.

can you post the whole sentence ? is it in reference to let the air out after filling your coolant system (burping it). or a component/valve that will let you relief pressure similar to the ones found on radiators used for heating homes ?
