Tegneværksted drawing office Explanation: Drawing office is often used, even when there is a considerable 'artistic' or design element. It's an option if you want another expression as well as 'design studio'. This is the place where the design is worked out in detail, dimensions checked, and building or manufacturing drawings are made and so on - architects have drawing offices. (They have to comply with building regulations and practical requirements as well as taking aesthetics into consideration, and the same applies to lots of smaller products.) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 3 hrs 43 mins (2005-08-22 14:36:23 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- BLANGSTED is right - I was in too much of a hurry, and the drawing office is a tegneSTUE. As far as I can see a 'tegneværksted' in Danish is often a place where people - children and amateurs - are encouraged to come and do drawings of various topics... It does occasionally seem to be a translation of Design Workshop - for instance http://www.lemvig-tegnevaerksted.dk/ Slightly more technical perhaps than a design studio, but basically the same thing. |
