Hi all:

Can anyone please tell me the English meaning of 扛镐? Thanks!

Celia

with their picks

中文的很多动词不用翻译成英文动词,这里用with比较通顺:
...and went with their picks down to the field to find them.

agree Rita Pang : That too! Essentially, both answers offer the idea of "holding their picks and doing some digging with them". It's your call to pick the best suited response for your translation. These really shouldn't be asked in the Kudoz forum...
