English term

meshek

English to Hebrew Other Human Resources
The word meshek tends to be a little confusing in certain contexts. For example, what would the following translate into: שכיר במשק and שכר ממוצע במשק? Economy doesn't seem to work here. market? industry?

Thank you!
Proposed translations (Hebrew)
5 +1 Economy

Discussion

SusanSong Dec 14, 2012:
"Meshek" in another context I have to translate משק המיים into English. "Water economy" sounds wrong in the context of the phrase (ניהול מושכל של משק המים בעיר) so I translated it as "water industry." What do you think? Am I right? Is "water economy" better, or is there another translation that's better?

Economy

You are right, meshek is an Israeli Hebrew slang for Economy in general. In some cases you may translate as marketplace like "wages in the marketplace". Use industry only when you refer to a cpecific one.
