CONTEXT: "La parte inferior donde se aloja el punzón inferior que realiza la función de extractor, así como el apoyo central para alojamiento de los ***porta núcleos***, forman una unidad guiada y soportada por la robusta base inferior."

I've been translating "nucleo" as "core" up to now. But it seems they might be things that you can shift. So now I think I might be confused on this one. Any ideas what "núcleos" could be in a printing context and what a device that "carried" them could be called.

Slug Case Slug case is the answer I used, given the deadline. If anyone finds a better solution please offer it here and I will reopen this question to give you the points.

Nucleos found The term I should be using is "slug" since this press turns out not to be a printing press, as I had been given to understand, but rather a punch press working with powdered metal. As there is very little description and the two fields share terms, it was an easy mistake to make.

"When the punch press is actuated, a ram descends, causing the punch to knock out the material creating a slug"

Slugs appear to be the raw shape produced in powdered metal presses. This slug is then baked in an industrial oven to harden it.

So "slug holder" ?? Any advance on that one?
