English term

Garden Island

English to Norwegian Art/Literary Geography popular name
Garden Island is not the real name of, but a nickname for a few islands around the world, because the island has lush vegetation, and lots of flowers. Such islands are Kauai in Hawaii, Huahine Island in Tahiti, Taveuni Island in Fiji, Jersey among the Channel Islands. I have two questions:
1. How would you translate this island nickname into Norwegian?
2. Is there any island in Norwegian territory (even in a lake) that has the nickname (in Norwegian of course) Garden Island?

Thank you.

Hi János;
There isn't actually a good Norwegian term for garden island, as we don't have any of those around here. So we tend to describe them as tropical islands or island paradises. Second, if there were a Norwegian island with such a nickname, it would be in the ironic sense - as if to describe a barren rock or cliff of an island. I know of no such island, however.
Best regards
