Discussion

Margaret Schroeder Nov 27, 2004:
I'd be quite confident that it's "clock-type, [i.e. a circle] with year in the middle and a ring of numbers with a tickmark pointing to the month" or something similar. It's the first thing that came to my mind even before seeing the other answers.
Non-ProZ.com Nov 27, 2004:
Would it be something similar to this?
"Ben writes: "Brakes and brake levers often have date codes on them. Weinmann and Dia-Compe calipers usually have codes on the back of a caliper arm. This can be simple like "0784" (month 07, 1984) or a clock-type, with year in the middle and a ring of numbers with a tickmark pointing to the month."

Non-ProZ.com Nov 27, 2004:
I am afraid my explanation was not detailed enough (mea culpa). The product bearing these markings is a safety mask, not related in any way to clocks or watches.
So I am guessing that this "tipo reloj" is related to the way how the date of manufacture is displayed. But I have never seen any product where the manifacture date would appear "like a clock".

date of manufacture: (clocklike display)

I think we are guessing in the right direction, tinageta. *tipo reloj* merely is an indication on how the date should be displayed.

date of manufacture

Date of production is too general

This will do the job.

Then, considering that it\'s a safety mask, the importnace of this piece of equipment may vary, often in such cases \"Manufacture\" is all that is needed, especially considering that a small amount of text can only be fitted onto the product.

I hope it helps,
Neil.

manufacturing date: dial style/clock format

GoodWords has the right idea too: I have seen plastics embossed (or molded) with a dial style; one circle for the year, other for the month, and the other for the day of the month; each dial then points to the number desired. There is only one dial per circle.

If you must retain "tipo reloj" I suggest "clock format".
