Russian term

продюсерское и производственное подразделения

Russian to English Art/Literary Cinema, Film, TV, Drama production company
This is referring to a film company that produces movies and distributes them... Can someone tell me the difference between these two ideas?

Thanks!

Are you hinting at something? :-]

I wonder... could this be the production and planning units? or production and business units?

the difference is... >>>

The first is a producers' office.
The second is the place where they make the stuff to be used in the movie.
I believe the difference is between "producing" (a movie) and "production" (literal meaning).

neutral Alexander Demyanov : Which literal meaning?

I suppose the physical production

Your last version: 1 = production; 2 = business/administration

Peer comment(s):

agree NATALIIA MARCHAL : 2=rather administrative

Thank you. I would still think "administrative duties" but "administration [division]"
agree Yuri Geifman : from my limited contacts with Russian film people, I'd say that продюсерское has to do with making the actual film (the creative part), while производственное is more related to business, logistics, etc.

Thank you.
neutral Marina Aleyeva : производством, по моему опыту, называют собственно изготовление фильма или телепередачи: съемки, монтаж, оцифровыв-е, озвуч-е, выпуск в эфир.// all of it may well be included. планово-производственный means it is into both scheduling and production

1. Well, what about the asker's reference to legal, PR, planning etc. sub-depts? 2. May be they used to before absobing a transliteration of "produce" and its derivatives into the Russian language.
agree alex11 : with Natalia KUdria, she is right. I would say: production Unit and Administartive Unit (compaunded) rather then Administration ( means a head {1} of particular unit . But You have quite a few of them

Thank you. Although are you 100% sure that "administration" means a head, a single person? By the same token, "police" would mean just Jackie Chan or somebody like him.

Administartive Unit versa simple Administartion

Clarifying Administrative Unit from Administartion. By Administration as 1 Head, you know Elizabeth, I meant not 1 human being but 1 structural body like Bopard of Directors. From my prospective Admistrative body will better describe complicated structure of Administration. It is more about how you feel language , which country do u live and etc. Therefore, final desision is entirely your choice. Thks
