It seems to be a proprietary or brand name in this link:

Example sentence:

Chloraseptic Pocket Pump Cherry is used on the skin to help protect skin from infection in minor cuts, scrapes, or burns.

I wonder if they are the same as the "sponges" in Althea's links? I've always translated torunda as "swab"...

Cherry dissector sponges

"TORUNDA DE ALGODON PLEXUS CHERRY RADIOPACA...

Menos pelusa y mayor absorbencia gracias a sus fibras premium
Detectable por rayos X para la seguridad del paciente
Incluye un dispositivo de conteo incluido, que facilita el cumplimiento de los protocolos de uso"

(zoom in on the photo and you can just make out the English)

"Cherry dissector sponges are a non-woven dissector made from pure cotton fiber. Cherries are known for their soft abrasive character, which makes them the softest dissector available."
https://www.graylinemedical.com/products/fabco-dissector-spo...

"Smaller versions of peanut sponges, rosebud sponges are used for dissection and absorption where precise dissection is necessary during delicate surgical procedures such as thyroidectomies, colostomy closures, hepatic resections, laryngectomies and abdominal aortic and other vascular procedures.
• Cherries are very tightly spun spherical sponges used for very gentle dissection and absorption during delicate surgical procedures. A center hole is incorporated to facilitate grip in a toothed forceps.
• Gardlok cherry sponges feature an X-ray detectable chip, rather than a tiny monofilament section, in the center of the sponge for enhanced visibility.
• Cherry sponge construction does not allow for the long monofilament incorporated in other Gardlok dissectors"

agree neilmac : This seems convincing to me, although 'torunda' is usually 'swab' rather than sponge...

Thanks neilmac. I could only find the one reference (1st one above) that mentioned a 'torunda cherry'. The different sizes of these spherical, spun 'sponges' are peanut, cherry and rosebud.
