molecular changes
I’m not sure about the meaning of “molecular changes” in the passage below. Might it refer to something different from “molecules” in biological sense?
I’ve found that another meaning of “molecular” is “of or relating to individual or small components”. Do you think that “molecular” may have this second meaning in the following sentence?
Maybe it could mean “specific changes”? I’m not sure, though...

the adjective molecular comes up most often in biology and chemistry, and it always describes the very smallest units that make up organisms or elements. Molecular comes from the noun molecule, which means "extremely minute particle," from the Latin molecula, "tiny mass." Definitions of molecular.

My doubt derived from the fact that the author referred, just before, to "integrative growth of the brain": so I didn't understand why he used the adjective "molecular" for the subsequent changes only... It's a bit difficult to explain...anyway, I guess I'll go for molecular in biological sense! |
