French term

NoVo

French to English Medical Medical (general) Summary hospitalization f
Hi everyone,
This is a handwritten summary hospitalization form from Quebec.
The patient suffered from viral gastroenteritis, AKI, metabolic acidosis, NSTEMI, acute tubular necrosis.
"contexte de DEG/NoVo + Do sur gastroentérite virale + prob"
I also have "résolution des Do, (downward arrow) NoVo et inappétance persiste"
I have seen "de novo" but not sure if this is correct in this context.
This is for the US
Thanks

joanna menda (asker) Jan 25:
Thanks so much, Emmanuella! Can you put it as an answer so that I can give the points :)
Rhys Allan Jan 25:
I think I am also in agreement with Emmanuella's answer. I still think there's some room for doubt based on it being written as "NoVo" rather than the more clearly divided No/Vo, but that's me being picky really, and it would seem to be an established shorthand in Quebec for Nausea and Vomiting, based on the other thread Phil shared. I suppose it depends on if the rest of the document clarifies it either way, but I think Emmanuella's is the more likely explanation!
philgoddard Jan 25:
Yes, that's it, Emmanuella.

We've had it before, but it wouldn't have come up in Joanna's glossary search because it was written as 'no/vo' last time. It might be worth posting another answer.

DEG could be douleur épigastrique.
Emmanuella Jan 25:
No = Nausées . Vo = Vomissements ?

Norovirus

I believe this could be a reference to Norovirus given that that particular virus seems to be associated with the Gastrointestinal symptoms mentioned in the rest of the text.

And a few sources relating to said virus list it as "NoV". I find it believable that this may be a variation on that.

neutral philgoddard : No, I think this is a symptom, not a disease.
