Italian term

atti illeciti di natura professionale

Italian to English Law/Patents Insurance
This term appears quite a lot in this insurance policy, but there are not that many Ghits for it. "Professional tort" might be an option of "professional wrongdoing" or "professional misconduct". Any ideas?

Thank you.

professional misconduct

In professional liability/indemnity insurance, cover protects against cliams for negligent acts and/or services, but your term refers to atti illeciti, which in English is professional misconduct.

agree Andrew Bramhall : Absolutely! Why go down the tortuous tortious route ( and not for the first time, I might add!)

Italian term (edited): atto illecito di natura professionale

tortious act of professional mal- or misfeasance

> unlawful acts of an unprofessional, rather than prof. nature.

acto Ilicito civil: intentional or unintentional tort, West SPA/ENG - Scots law: delict.

Misfeasance as opposed to nonfeasance or malfeasance as the action - routinely brough by a company administrator liquidator for compensation against company dircetors in Anglo-Irish law - is called 'misfeasance proceedings'. That's the only reason to deviate from 'acts of professional misconduct', more usually associated with employees or with ethic standards of an eg. medical profession as a whole.

Contrast professional malfeasance of police officers etc. in the USA.

'atti illeciti di natura gestionale' : approx. unlawful acts committed in the course of management.
Example sentence:

IATE: en misfeasance COM it esercizio arbitrario di un diritto (?)

A director who is found guilty of misfeasance will usually be faced with legal action in order to recover property, undo a transaction or compensate the company to ensure that creditors don’t lose out.
