Italian to English Medical Medical: Cardiology
This is in the findings of a transthoracic echocardiogram along with the ejection fraction and left ventricular mass. That said, I believe this is to do with the right ventricle. I can find lots of examples of it online but annoyingly none give the explanation of the abbreviation (see below).

Fractional shortening
By using the formula: (LVEDD - LVESD / LVEDD) x 100 we get the percentage of size differences of the left ventricle as a parameter of how well the left ventricle is contracting itself and therefore reduces the size during systole.
