Spanish term

dar putazos

Spanish to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
Buenas noches,

Muchas gracias

Spanish term (edited): dar putazos / putazados

dish out (hellish) blows

The translation needs to contrast the putazos with the putazados as the 'augmentative' form, tentatively incorporate the 'puta' spin and span AmE and BrE/IrE etc. usage, though I am more familiar from Spain & the Canaries (literally) with 'cogotazos'.

dio un par de putazos : dished out (dealt) a couple of blows
o le pareció que Juan daba un par de putazados : or it seemed to him that Juan was lashing out with a couple of hellish blows (vs. raining down a series of blows)
Example sentence:

When you lash out at someone, you express your anger by saying or writing furious words about them

dish it out Slang To deal out criticism or abuse.

PUTAZO

putazo
s m (Groser) Golpe muy fuerte que da alguien a otra persona, o que se da alguien al caer o estrellarse en algo: “Aquí me pongo al tiro o me lleva la chingada por tanto pinche microbio, y allá, los putazos…”, “Es un accidente automovilístico. Güey, qué novedad. ¿Ya viste?, en la madre, qué putazo, pobres chavos”

agree Adrian MM. : note that AB has pinched my 'lashing out' idea from my example sentence.
