Discussion

Cecile Sune (asker) Dec 15, 2022:
Hi guys! I realize now that my question was not very clear. "Rope glove" refers to work gloves that are found on a specialized online store. So I think "gant pour cordage" would probably work here.
Daryo Dec 15, 2022:
@François Tardif Thanks! That solves the apparent contradiction.

In fact there is another clue:

the other question from the same Asker - presumably from the same ST - is about "Ball & Tape Cowhide Leather Work Glove".

So it's about very utilitarian gloves - hardly what would be understood as "fashion".
François Tardif Dec 15, 2022:
@Daryo I can confirm to you that boutique en ligne is indeed an online shop in French Canada.

Daryo Dec 15, 2022:
@Cecile Sune with the info you provided so far, there are TWO possible interpretations of what could be a "rope glove" in this catalogue:

- if "Textiles / Clothing / Fashion" and "une boutique en ligne" are to be taken as valid clues, you would expect these "rope gloves" to be some kind of fashion accessory i.e. "gloves made of rope" - sounds unusual, but weirder fashion accessories have been seen in the past.

- it could also be "gloves for working with ropes", which would be some kind of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) used by s.o. having to handle ropes at work. Not the kind of stuff you would buy in what in FR FR would be called "une boutique" - makes no sense, unless in CA FR "une boutique en ligne" is just any kind of "online shop".

More context?

What's the intended clientele for this "boutique en ligne"?

People who would give any mountain a wide berth or those who would climb it "just because it's there"?

agree Daryo : Asker is not helping, but the other related question solves the ambiguity - no "fashion" anywhere in sight.

Thanks

disagree Daryo : first ref: ROPE is part of a trademark // second ref looks like a machine translated catalogue // + since when "rope" is FR?
