The cards are still valid as proof of Canadian citizenship.
The date on your citizenship card is not the date you became a Canadian citizen (it’s the date we produced the card).

Where it says "I solemny declare that I am a Canadian Citizen etc..." (1) Put the same date as your oath and sign.

Where it says "Certificate number and date of issue" (4c) that is the field for the DP date which is on your citizenship card. As an example my DP date is year 2010 month 01. Once you get your card you will see what Im talking about.
