Q: The following email attachments can be considered safe if you are using patched (up-to-date) applications:
A. doc (Word Doc) & exe (Executable)
B. txt (Text File), jpg (Image), pdf (Portable Document Format)
C. docm (Word Doc with Macro)
D. None of the above


(There have been some cases where a maliciously crafted image or other media file can exploit a vulnerability in a viewer application, but these issues are rare and are patched quickly.)


Another worm, SQL Slammer, exploited a Microsoft SQL vulnerability which had been covered by a patch. However, this worm was capable of infecting every unpatched SQL server on the Internet in just 10 minutes.
