PS What would Gullberg know now?! :-)
Christopher Schröder Sep 14, 2022:
Sounds like an outside accountant, as Dave suggests

Finance dept./finance office

And there's finance function.

I've used all of these for an internal company department -- depending on your context.

Financial services

Hello
A quick search on Internet shows that there are many service providers calling themselves Ekonomibyrån
I think it's more likely to be a financial services company than a department (ekonomiavdelningen/finansavdelning) within a company
Peer comment(s):

neutral Agneta Pallinder : Depends on where Charles has got the "unit" from - if it is his text then it seems like an internal division rather than a freestanding service bureau.

(ship) purser's / (BrE school) bursar's /(mil.) quartermaster's office

We need to know a unit of what, not only of a company.

Supplies dept.: Prisma.
Example sentence:

BrE Bursar: British a person who manages the financial affairs of a college or school.

On modern merchant ships, the purser is the officer responsible for all administration (including the ship's cargo and passenger manifests) and supply; frequently the cooks and stewards answer to them as well.
