Portuguese term or phrase:
Comédia Galante
English translation:
Comédie Galante
Portuguese term
Comédia Galante
I'm not sure if this is of Portuguese or Spanish origin as I also came across Comedia Galante in Spanish.
I'm also not sure if there's an English translation for it or if I should leave it as it is.
There aren't many hits on google, so any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Is this not referred to in English as courtly comedy?
Thanks for your input.
I think Phil should add it to the answers so I can add it to the glossary.
Otherwise I'm closing this without grading.
La Princesse d'Élide est une comédie galante, mêlée de musique et d'entrées de ballet en cinq actes de Molière, représentée pour la première fois à Versailles le 8 mai 1664 dans le cadre de la somptueuse fête des Plaisirs de l'Île enchantée
I didn't know whether to keep it in italic and where it was originally from because in my text it's translated to Portuguese and I've also seen it in Spanish.
The French hadn't come up yet but now that you mentioned it, it does look like that's where it originated: https://www.etudier.com/dissertations/Type-De-Comédie/328759...
