Se trata siempre sobre telas teñidas en pieza, en donde el diseño se logra por eliminación de ese color tintado previamente. Por tal razón, es recomendable para fondos de color oscuro. El primer paso es eliminar el color tintado en la parte que ocupará el diseño, impregnando de material corrosivo el propio diseño; si en esa parte se ha de estampar nuevo color podrá hacerse a la vez que la primera fase, con tal que el color nuevo sea tal que soporte el material corrosivo de descarga, propiedad que depende de sus componentes químicos. Los estampados por corrosión se identifican fácilmente observando el revés de la tela, en el que unos colores traspasan más que otros."

Discharge inks work by removing the dyed areas of reactive dyed dark garments to create a different colour in its place. The pigments used in discharge inks are impervious to the discharge process so essentially, they replace the colour that was there previously on the garment. Some refer to it as a ‘bleaching’ process, however discharge inks don’t damage the cotton fibres. The end result is an extremely soft print that can have little to no handle on the garment, whilst offering extremely bright colours."
