English term

future medical

English Law/Patents Insurance
Sentence:
"Under this settlement, you will receive an Award for future medical for your LEFT eye."

I don't understand what "future medical" means in this settlement. What about "Award"?
Would anybody help me understand this sentence?
Thanks in advance!

@ Askers award = the amount of the settlement (cf. 'pay award' etc.)
''future medical' is presumably just a short way of saying 'future medical expenses' — the exact reason for this is preumably made clear in your wider context; so 'medical expenses that are going to arise in the future'

''Award'' & ''Future medical''

The term 'award' refers to the compensation or prize you receive when you win something important.

"Future medical" refers to upcoming medical care that is reasonably required to cure or relieve your injury.
Example sentence:

When you complete high-quality work for the company, you will be awarded future medical benefits.

Thanks!

neutral Tony M : That's not really the right meaning of 'award' here, where it is not in any way a 'prize', but simply 'something you are given'

neutral AllegroTrans : "Prize" is not the word for an insurance settlement - it's not a competition and you don't "win" - wrong terminology
