Uniformed police/force https://polis.osce.org/country-profiles/germany
The State Police Service prevents and prosecutes local crime and can be divided between the uniformed police and the investigation section. The uniformed forces patrol the streets, respond to emergency calls, serve as a point of contact for the citizens and as a traffic and petty crime police for 24 hours a day throughout the year.

When he joined in 1991, David’s first posting was to West Bar Police Station where he spent six years mainly as a uniformed duty group officer policing the streets of the city, first on foot and then by beat car. He left Sheffield on promotion in 1997 and was posted to Main Street at Rotherham, serving on a duty group for two years before becoming the Chief Constable’s staff officer.

David left the staff office upon promotion to Inspector rank and was posted to Wombwell in 2001. He was then a duty group Inspector for five years, taking the role of PSU commander throughout.

Note from asker:
Thank you very much for your help, Rama. I've seen the above article but wasn't quite sure whether you could really translate Dienstgruppe as "service group". Have a lovely evening...
Peer comment(s):

agree philgoddard : Your first reference is a bad translation, but I agree with your answer.

True about the bad translation! The German text explains the function of the group, but that is still no indication for the term used for this group.
agree Cillie Swart : Yes Definitely. Thanks !!

department

Note from asker:
Thank you very much for your help, Ramey. There isn't any further context. It's simply part of the address, and the word Dienstgruppe describes - as far as I know - uniformed officers whose main functions are patrol duties but also administrative work at the police station (and they work shifts). Have a lovely evening...
Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : You can't just say "department" on its own. It needs something with it, like "traffic" or "criminal investigation".

I would, if it was in the source text.
