English term

"rolled up"

English to Spanish Social Sciences Psychology Dog Training
I am not sure about the meaning in this informal English sentence of the expression "rolled up". It is a book about dog (puppy) training, written in very coloquial English.

"That’s how I want your puppy to be. Living life purely for pleasure, not a care in the world.
I think back to the magical adventures we’ve shared: catching ‘bad guys’, searching for drugs, singing along to the radio in the van on our way to the training field, and generally just being with each other. We’ve covered thousands of miles and made more B&B hosts doubt their own judgement when we’ve rolled up than I care to remember. I’m so excited for you. You and your puppy are going to make your own magical adventures".

My attempt:

Discussion

Taña Dalglish Jan 20, 2022:
PTeixidor Your comment that you still don't understand: "The ***malinois*** dog looks fearful and the B&B owners where initially afraid of them because of that..."????? There is nothing in your text provided to suggest that a "Belgian Malinois"(a breed of dogs) was present when the guests arrived (rolled up) at the property. The text you provided speaks of "puppies". Can you be explicit as to what is causing you a problem, as other colleagues have given you the intended meaning of "to roll up" which again means "to show up in a place (unexpectedly)/to arrive at the destination. Again, in context, there is nothing to suggest the presence of a particular breed of dogs, unless there is additional context you have not provided to indicate otherwise. But, in any event, whether there were others dogs or not, it does not matter in your context. Dogs is irrelevant. Regards.
Taña Dalglish Jan 18, 2022:
I am assuming that "rolled up" here means arriving at a particular destination.

Aparecernos

I think, in this case according to context, ''roll up'' means to show up in a place unexpectedly.
Example sentence:

2. (informal) [person] presentarse ⧫ aparecer you can’t roll up half way through the rehearsal no puedes presentarte or aparecer en mitad del ensayo

Peer comment(s):
