Spanish term
Gran Selección
I know that Gran Reserva-->Special/Grand Reserve, and Selección-->Vintage, but does Gran Selección mean something else? Special Vintage? Did this restaurant invent the term? Thanks in advance!

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.
How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:
An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)
A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

As phil notes in his suggestion, things like"Gran Selección/Gran Reserva/..." are usually left untranslated on wine labels.

@kaelne: After seeing your mention of "curated", I ran a search for "curated wine selection" and got over ninety thousand hits. So that could be another option, although I tend to associate "curated" with hipster (usually vegan) cafés and the like...

I still think you should leave it untranslated.
Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear: This was the label for a section of the menu with other wines listed, not the name of a kind of wine or winery. Thank you though! It's good to know that this term exists as the official name of some brands. |
I thought I could split points and award you both, oops! Sorry :/ Yeah, since the terms in Spanish and English are so similar, maybe they wouldn't mind leaving it as-is. |

: On a wine label or blurb, yes, but for a menu section... I think I'd stick with my suggestion.

Thanks for agreeing anyway. I just think terms like this don't translate well and sound more exotic if left in the source language.

Thank you! I think that's what I'm going to go with, "Special Selection" |
