Dear ProZ members,

I'd need some help with the following sentence. In a cartoon, the leader or a group of people reunites everyone to discuss about an important e-mail he received. When they ask him what is it about, he answers:

僕の口からどうこういうより本人に直接説明してもらったほうがいいでしょう
(Instead of ??? I think it would be better if the person who sent the mail explained it to you directly.)

I'm not grasping the exact meaning of 僕の口からどうこういう. What's the nuance?
Does he mean he would give an unaccurate explanation, using his own (imprecise) words? Or is it just a convoluted way to say "Instead or hearing it from me"?
