Portuguese term

limbo inferior,

Discussion

José Patrício Sep 8, 2021:
No challenges. We aren' here for challenges, only for an exact comprehension of the matter. Good afernoon.
Muriel Vasconcellos Sep 8, 2021:
Basic principle of terminology In terminology theory, the first basic principle is to use a single name for a single concept. Multiple names for the same concept create confusion, miscommunication, and duplication of effort. Have a look at this diagram:
https://ib.bioninja.com.au/higher-level/topic-9-plant-biolog...
There are already two well-recognized terms/names for this concept. There's no need to create confusion by inventing something new.
Remember, too, that the answers here go into a database that translators will be consulting in the future. Correct terminology improves the value of the database; incorrect terminology diminishes it.
Botany is a science. Scientists speak in very specific terms to facilitate communication.
I can't believe that I am being challenged to defend this position!

Mas não deixa de ser a parte inferior do limbo(?) v. ref comm
Muriel Vasconcellos Sep 8, 2021:
@ José Patricio Because there is a proper botanical term. No need to invent anything. Did you see my answer?
José Patrício Sep 8, 2021:
That's not standard terminology but it means logic, once limbo inferior, it means that is author’s connotation. How translate then, the logic one?
