Italian term

crediti vantati nei vostri confronti da

Italian to English Bus/Financial Finance (general)
Dear folks,
I find this sentence a little confusing. It appears in a letter written by a bank (the "noi" in "a noi ceduti" therefore refers to the bank) with heading "Sollecito di pagamento crediti [company name]".

La presente in qualità di cessionari dei crediti originariamente vantati nei Vostri confronti dalla [company name] ed a noi ceduti nell’ambito di un rapporto di factoring.

Would this translation be correct? Apologies if it sounds clunky:

We are submitting this letter in our capacity as assignee of the receivables originally **owed by you to [company name]** (??) and assigned to us in the context of a factoring relationship.

Many thanks in advance for any help!

Many thanks to Phil and Jim for your help!

Jim does have a point, but I don't think 'assigned' is really wrong. It's what the Italian says. Your translation is fine.
James (Jim) Davis Aug 26, 2021:
Understanding is correct I would avoid the use of "assign". In the US assignment of accounts receivable is not really factoring, but borrowing against invoices as collateral. You could just say as the holder of the receivables originally payable to .... which have been factored to us. Instead of going round the houses with "in the context of .... relationship". I am not really sure which part of this translates the six words you posted. I'll let somebody else work that out and post it. It is late where I am.

Claims asserted against you by...

We are hereby acting in our capacity as assignees of the claims originally asserted against you by [company name] and passed on to us in the context of a factoring relationship.

Many thanks Oliver.

neutral philgoddard : I'm not sure 'claims asserted' is quite right - it's just money owed.

Italian term (edited): crediti originariamente vantati nei vostri confronti da

receivables originally owed to yourself by

I've re-included the 'originariamente' shifting - as it does - the meaning away from claims orginally enforced to receivables as 'choses in action' not yet enforced in relation to your good self.

'La presente in qualità di cessionari...' - We are hereby giving this notice qua assignees....... ' quaere: use of Latin and the exact nuance of confrontational preposition of 'confronti..' : perhaps: in relation to, vis-à-vis or the lawyer's favourite: in repect of ..

NB the quote distinctly refers to a factoring relationship.

PS careful attention needs to be paid to Glossary entries.

Example sentence:

Accounts receivable is money owed to your business.

Accounts receivable is the balance of money due to a firm for goods or services delivered or used but not yet paid for by customers.

disagree Andrew Bramhall : Way off beam; original text not understood, yet still you attempt to " improve" it??// Exactly, Phil;
