Italian to English Other Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs

In a criminal records certificate, next to the columns for codice fiscale, date of birth and place of birth there is a column for paternità which is left blank.

I am not sure what to translate this as- parentage or if the person concerned is a parent? Is it about their parents or about whether they have children or not?
