Spanish term

escultura en forma

Spanish to English Art/Literary Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
This is from a text about a Uruguayan woman sculptor:

Is there any difference between "escultura" and "escultura en forma"?
Thanks

to philgoddard and wendy Wendy, you can ask me to delete those mentions if you prefer so. With the years and the nationality was really easy to discover the identity. Indeed, I believe it is not confidential or you would hide those data, but in case it is, please let me know.
philgoddard Jun 6, 2021:
Oscar I've asked Wendy several times to give us the artist's name in questions like this, but she hasn't responded. It can't be for confidentiality reasons, since we don't know who the client is. It's usually fairly easy to find out who the artist is, but we shouldn't have to.

David Hollywood Jun 6, 2021:
this is a tricky one as the ST says "en forma" as opposed to "formal" so...
Muriel Vasconcellos Jun 5, 2021:
Several possible options It could mean three-dimensional sculpture:
A form is a three-dimensional figure — as opposed to a shape, which is two-dimensional, or flat. ... With sculpture, on the other hand, form is real because it takes up three-dimensional space.

Or the use of wire forms as the basis for the sculpture:
Pablo Picasso (1881 to 1973), Alexander Calder (1898 to 1976), and Julio Gonzalez (1876 to 1942) are some artists who created open form sculptures, made from wire and other materials. Jan 24, 2020

Or the use of molds:
A mold is the negative or hollow cavity produced around a sculpted piece for use in creating multiples of that piece. A cast is the positive or reproduction of the original piece of sculpture created by pouring casting material into a pre-formed mold.

...she took up sculpture seriously
Peer comment(s):

agree Katarina Peters : I think you got the meaning

agree David Hollywood : me too and maybe "she went back to serious sculpturing" but not "she took up"...means "she went back to"... de todas maneras la idea tuya es correcta

agree ormiston : You can take up skiing on retiring, i.e. for the first time David, no?

neutral philgoddard : But if it means 'went back to', surely that would be "retornó a'? And I think you need references.
