Japanese term

審判

Japanese to English Law/Patents Law (general) Family Law
How would you translate this as the title of an official document outlining a name change?
It is a document that is issued by a family court detailing the change of name of a child.

I don't specialise in legal translation, so any help in determining the best fit in this particular context would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Decision by the Family Court

審判 is a term specific to 家庭裁判所. 審判 refers to "proceedings" by the family court. However, if the document contains a decision made by the court, I suggest "Decision by the Family Court" for the document title. What the court decides is whether to approve the name change under application. Hence, I've chosen "decision" over judgment/ruling, although they are not wrong.

Q 審判とはどのようなものですか。
A 家庭に関する紛争のうち,家庭裁判所の審判手続で取り扱う一定の事項について,裁判官が,当事者から提出された書類や家庭裁判所調査官の行った調査の結果等種々の資料に基づいて判断を決定する手続です。

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thank you for your helpful answer. As put forward by the other respondents, I of course know that 審判 means "judgment" or "ruling" in a general law context, but I was searching for a more context-specific response that is more relevant to how the term is used as a document title, so this helps a lot - thanks again!"

Note from asker:
Thank you for your response. Would it sound natural for an official document to be called "Ruling" or "Determination" with the term on its own (i.e. not in a sentence)? This is where I was struggling to find the right term - because I of course can see that 審判 is translated as "ruling", "judgment", or "determination" within sentences all the time, but I couldn't find any examples of the term used on its own as the title of an offical document issued by the Family Court.

Judgment or Judgement

In law, a judgment, also spelled judgement, is a decision of a court regarding the rights and liabilities of parties in a legal action or proceeding. Judgments also generally provide the court's explanation of why it has chosen to make a particular court order.
Example sentence:

The family is awaiting for the final judgment.

家族は最後の審判を待っています。
