Merci Tony! Makes perfect sense here!
Tony M Feb 10, 2021:
@ Asker No, 'downgrade' is perfectly correct here!
It doesn't mean 'déclassé' etc. — the sense here is the technical use of 'grade' used in construction, earthmoving, etc. where 'grade' = 'ground surface' (cf. use in railways, and also cf. gradient)
So a 'downgrade' means simply a 'downwards slope' or 'in a downhill direction' — relevant of course for moving plant etc. — so the 'load engaging means' must be pointing downwards.
Benoit Cros (asker) Feb 10, 2021:
sans d il n'y a effectivement pas de 'd' dans le texte d'origine.
polyglot45 Feb 10, 2021:
il ne manquerait pas un 'd' à la fin ? downgraded = rétrogradé

disagree Tony M : Only in layman's language; as I have already explained in the Discussion, this is a technical usage with a very specific other meaning.

disagree Giovancy Hubbard : According to the discussion I would rather use words like "en pente", "inclinaison"
